The Dune Shacks

At the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, along a three-mile stretch of beach, lies a world unto itself. Hidden along this ever-changing coastline are a number of dwellings appropriately called “dune shacks”. These shacks have all—in some ways—changed lives, inspired, educated, comforted, and awed.

David may be the only person to have painted all the shacks. He won’t assert that for a fact, bur he has not been able to find anyone else who has. It started when a serendipitous walk in to the dunes introduced him to the removed world of the dune shacks.

About David

Born in England in 1958, David grew up as an Air Force brat living in Kansas, Wyoming, Texas and California, before settling in the Boston area. He is self-taught, working mostly with oil on canvas or board. He is also a photographer and had this to say about his photographs: "Every time I take a photograph, I see it as a potential painting. Some of these photos may very well end up on canvas."

David opened Eclipse Gallery, the first hair salon/art gallery on Boston’s Newbury Street in 1988, allowing him to combine two of his talents. He is a Dune Shack artist, Cape Cod artist, New England artist, Global artist...always with a creative eye, he catches the beauty of wherever he is. "In this ever changing landscape, what we see one day might not be there the next.”
